Rabindra Singh and Rajani Maharjan have grabbed the titles Mr and Miss Kathmandu 2009 respectively, at an event held in Kathmandu’s Rastriya Naach Ghar on Saturday.Niraj Shrestha and Soni Tamang both took home the title of first runner-up, while Raju Maharjan and Rajina Tamang were declared the second runner-ups.
“This event was an ideal platform for contestants to showcase their hidden talents. I certainly believe in providing equal opportunity and motivation to all. This event certainly brought out the best in the fresh new faces of Nepal’s modelling world,” said Chandani Lamichane, a choreographer and the organiser of the event. All in all, 16 men and 13 women took part in the competition. Contest winner Rabindra Singh also won the titles “Most Popular” and “Viewers Choice”, while beauty queen Rajani also won the title “Miss Talent.”
Glitz and glamour were understandably the mainstay of the event, which saw performances by upcoming Nepali models as they sizzled on stage and received a huge applause from the audience.
The panel of judges included Navaraj Acharya of Kantipur Television, Film director Uddav Abhidit, actors Jivan Luitel and Arjun Karki and choreographer Kaviraj among others.
